I spent two decades building brands from the inside — design leadership at Cotton Incorporated, Phillips Van Heusen, Cygne Design, and Rockport, then as VP of Design at Lindsay Phillips, working with a team to take the company from $1M to $22M in three years ahead of its 2013 acquisition, and later Wet Brush, where I led the brand's modernization ahead of its acquisition by Goody.
Then I had the exit every executive fears: the private equity acquisition we had all been striving for brought in their own team, and I was out.
